VideosHelpDutiesThe major duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as regional officer between Central Office Safety and Environmental Management program officials, national task groups and centers of expertise on budgetary and program matters.
Interpret and distribute regionally policy guidance received from Central Office in assigned areas of responsibility.
Ensure that plans and programs are effective for the recognition and evaluation of risk to GSA personnel, tenant agency personnel, visiting public, Government property/assets and mission of GSA/occupant agencies that are of a safety, health, fire protection or environmental nature.
Reviews regional risk management programs and makes recommendations for changes to improve effectiveness; provides technical guidance and expertise on all program related matters to a wide range of regional business lines.
Develops and promulgates instructional material.
Visits field locations throughout the region to evaluate the effectiveness with which branch programs are being accomplished.
Participate with division and other regional management officials in the development of prospectus level projects.
Monitors all GSA operations and projects involved in SEM risk and liability management.
Performs the full range of first level supervisory duties and authorities to plan, assign, direct, manage and evaluate work; to ensure employee training and development.

The GS-14 salary range starts at $122,198 per year and varies by location.
To qualify at the GS-14:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is serving as the technical expert responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating safety and occupational health and safety programs for commercial, public, or government office buildings.
This experience includes:
Interpreting and implementing guidelines, standards, policies and engineering criteria for safety programs; Reviewing project plans, specifications, and designs in order to advise on safety issues for construction and repair and alterations projects; Conducting risk analysis of building operations to develop solutions that ensure a safe environment for occupants and comply with applicable life and safety codes; Evaluating performance and providing recommendations for life and work safety programs to ensure compliance with relevant fire safety and safety and occupational health laws and regulations; Managing inspections of buildings and workspace to ensure compliance with applicable work safety codes, policies, regulations and laws.
