80 an hour Social Security Income Specialist (03728) - (23143335) The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Child and Family Services Division in Helena.
The Social Security Income Specialist ensures qualified children are provided the opportunity to request and obtain Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to, serves as the non-attorney representative on behalf of SSI claimants at hearings before Administrative Law Judges; evaluates assessments of the child's medical, social and developmental barriers to determine if the child appears to meet the Social Security disability criteria; provides training and assistance to staff on a variety of topics related to program responsibilities.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity Knowledge and understanding of SSI adjudication process.
Knowledge of child development with effects of child abuse and disabilities.
Ability to learn the laws and regulations as they relate to eligibility issues.
Meet minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, social services, public administration, or a related field.
Three years of job-related work experience in SSI program, disability determination, case management or child protective services work.
Knowledge of Montana foster care, federal program funding such as Social Security Disability Determination, or Child and Adult Protective Services System (CAPS) preferred.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2024.
